Colorado Lands Top-100 Small Forward Xavier Johnson

The Colorado Buffaloes landed their second 2012 basketball recruit in as many days by securing a verbal commit from forward Xavier Johnson. Johnson is a 6-foot-6-inch 180 pound small forward four-star recruit, top-100 overall and top-20 small forward and joins Josh Scott as Colorado's second four-star recruit in the 2012 class. Johnson selected Colorado over Arizona State, Harvard, Oregon State, UCLA, UNLV and USC.

Here is what ESPN recruiting says about Johnson:

Smooth wing that can score on the break and in the half court by getting to the rim and taking advantage of his size or showing off his nice middle game. Johnson finds a way to use his strengths to be productive. He must be more effective on the offensive glass. Due to his work ethic and physical attributes look for Johnson to climb the recruiting charts during the up and coming spring (2011) evaluation period.

Here is what Scout has to say about Johnson:

Johnson is a multi-talented forward who can knock down the three, create his own shot from midrange and also attack the basket. He tends to rely on his three too much, but he has a terrific stroke and in time should be a very good three-point shooter. Johnson's effort is inconsistent, but when he's focused and plays hard, there's a big difference in his performance. He's a good passer and defender when giving good effort on that end of the court.
