NCAA Basketball Bracketology: Colorado Shut Out Of Early Tourney Projection

The Colorado Buffaloes basketball team has gotten off to a 5-3 start, but that has them above only the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Tech Red Raiders, both 5-5. The Buffaloes are currently on a three-game winning streak, beating the Colorado State Rams, 93-80, in overtime for their latest victory. They have seven more games before the start of Big 12 conference play.

Now that the college basketball season is over a month old, SB Nation's Bracketologist, Chris Dobbertean has a way too early look at the March tournament in his latest NCAA Bracketology entry. Recall that in his preseason projections, Dobbertean had Colorado as a possible 12 seed in the West region along with the Northwestern Wildcats.

As the latest projections go, Colorado is out of the NCAA bracket and Northwestern takes a spot in the West as the No. 11 seed. The Wildcats are currently 5-0 on the season.

The teams that make the tournament from the Big 12 number seven. The Kansas Jayhawks take the top seed in the Southwest bracket. The Kansas State Wildcats, the Missouri Tigers, the Baylor Bears, the Texas Longhorns, the Texas A&M Aggies and the Oklahoma State round out the rest of the group.

In the Mountain West Conference, neither the Air Force Falcons nor the Colorado State Rams sniff entry into this projection. However, San Diego State (No. 3 seed), BYU (4) and UNLV (7) offer a good showing for the MWC.
