Colorado Starts Fast, Takes 7-0 Lead on Georgia

Well, can’t start better than that. Colorado, in front of a electric atmosphere in Boulder, drove 80 yards to take a 7-0 lead on the visiting Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs put the Buffs in third and long three times, but Colorado was able to convert each time. QB Tyler Hansen scrambled for big gains on third down and then completed a pass to WR Toney Clemons to set up first and goal. Two plays later, Hansen hit FB Matt Bahr on a five-yard score to give CU the early lead.

Georgia responded nicely as KR Brandon Boykin returned the ensuing kickoff 66 yards to the CU 24 but the Bulldogs were only able to add three. Colorado 7, Georgia 3.

After one quarter of play, Colorado has out-gained Georgie 121 - 15 with 100 of those 121 yards on the ground. QB Tyler Hansen leads the way with 47 yards, RB Rodney Stewart has 29 and RB Brian Lockridge has 24.
