The latest news from the Denver Post's Adrian Dater is that the Colorado Avalanche has secured a return of D Shane O'Brien:

O'Brien played 76 games with the Avs in the 2011-12 NHL season, averaging almost 20 minutes per game. According to Dater, the contract will be for increasing amounts of money per season -- $1.8 million, $2.0 million and $2.2 million in years 1, 2 and 3.
