The Colorado Avalanche and the Washington Capitals have completed the trade that sent goaltender Semyon Varlamov to the Mile High City last summer. The Capitals have accepted the 54th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Draft to satisfy the last condition of the trade, according to Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times. The Capitals received the Avalanche's first-round pick this year -- No. 11 overall -- and had a choice of the pick they ultimately took or a 2013 second-round pick.

This pick has changed multiple hands over the years. It was originally the Boston Bruins' selection, but they traded it to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Then when the Avalanche sent defenseman John-Michael Liles to the Leafs last summer they received this pick in return.

Here are the picks the Avalanche do have in the draft this year (full list here):

Round 2, No. 41 overall
Round 3, No. 72 overall
Round 5, No. 132 overall
Round 6, No. 162 overall
Round 7, No. 192 overall

Round 1 of the 2012 NHL Draft takes place on Friday, June 22, in Pittsburgh. NBC Sports Network will have the broadcast at 5:00 p.m. MT. Rounds 2-7 follow on Saturday.
