Avalanche Vs. Stars Final Score: Paul Stastny's 12th Goal Delivers 2-1 Victory For Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Paul Stastny came up with the game-winning goal midway through the third period.

Colorado was on the power play at 10:22 after Steve Ott was called for hooking on Cody McLeod. Thirteen seconds later, Paul Stastny put the puck past Kari Lehtonen for his 12th goal of the season and the game-winning score.

David Jones had netted his ninth goal of the season, with an assist to Paul Stastny, at 10:25 in the first period, carrying the Avalanche to a lead until Vernon Fiddler scored at 5:26 in the third period.

There was no shot advantage to speak of, though the Avalanche had 23 to Dallas' 22. Jean-Sebastien Giguere faced just one shot on net in the opening period. Lehtonen saw just four from the Avalanche in the third period.

Colorado (24-20-2, 50 points) will visit the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday.
