2012 NHL All-Star Game: Avalanche Fail To Earn A Selection, But Landeskog Gets Skills Competition Invite

Colorado's first-round pick Gabriel Landeskog is one of 12 NHL rookies who received an invitation to participate in the Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition during All-Star weekend in Ottawa, Canada.

The 2012 NHL All-Star selections have been announced, but no member of the Colorado Avalanche has earned a selection. Even so, Colorado's first-round pick (No. 2 overall) in the 2011 Early Draft, Gabriel Landeskog, is one of 12 NHL rookies who received an invitation to participate in the Molson Canadian NHL All-Star Skills Competition during All-Star weekend in Ottawa, Canada.

Landeskog leads the Avalanche in plus/minus so far this season (+9), and is currently fifth on the team in total points. The skills competition will take place on Saturday January 28 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, at 5:00 p.m. MT on NBC. It comes as a bit of a surprise that the team's leading scorer, Ryan O'Reilly, didn't make the list of 36 All-Stars for the 2012 roster, so expect some reaction on that decision to show up at SB Nation's Avalanche blog Mile High Hockey in the very near future.
