Peter Mueller Returns To Lineup For Colorado Avalanche

After being activated from the Injured Reserve list by the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night, the team's official twitter feed has confirmed that forward Peter Mueller will be active and in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nashville Predators.

Mueller, 23, has not played since the third game of this season due to concussion related issues, a troubling sign after missing the entire 2010-2011 NHL season with a severe concussion. With a move into the lineup, Mueller hopes to rediscover his form from the end of the 2009-2010 season, when he scored 20 points in his first 15 games wearing an Avalanche sweater.

A healthy Peter Mueller would be a significant boost to a Colorado lineup that is sorely lacking offensive firepower. With Matt Duchene likely to miss the remainder of January with a knee injury, the Avalanche have not have consistent production from their top forwards. The team currently ranks 25th in the league with only 2.46 goals scored per game, a number that must improve if they have serious playoff aspirations.
