Avalanche Vs. Ducks Final Score: Colorado Loses Two-Goal Lead, Falls To Ducks, 5-4

The Colorado Avalanche held a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period, but saw that evaporate into a 3-3 tie at the end of the second period. Two Anaheim power play goals in the third period gave the Ducks the lead before the Avs scored one in the final minute of play.

Ryan O'Reilly and Matt Duchene each scored a goal in the first period, for the latter his 27th of the season. There were eight penalties in the game, including four that game at the 16-minute mark for roughing. In the second period, Teemu Selanne scored the Ducks' first and third goals of the period, Jason Blake netting the other. Selanne's first goal came on a penalty shot because John-Michael Liles covered the puck while it was in the crease. David Jones scored the Avs goal in the second period.

Cam Fowler scored at 2:49 in the third period for a power play goal and Selanne followed with another power play goal for the team's fifth and final goal. Paul Stastny scored Colorado's fourth goal with roughly 50 seconds left to play.

Brian Elliott faced 42 shots and saved 37. Ray Emery stopped 31-of-35 shots.

The Avalanche (28-39-8, 64 points) are now on a three-game losing streak and will host the Nashville Predators on Thursday. Including that game, there are seven games left in the season.
