Top Five March Events At The Pepsi Center

The Pepsi Center will be hopping with pro and prep games in March.

It is a pretty open month at the Pepsi Center, as the Denver Nuggets only have six home games this month, the Colorado Avalanche have five and the Colorado Mammoth two.

But that doesn't mean that there aren't some great games happening this month. Let's dive into the top five events this month at The Can.

5. Edmonton Oilers Vs Colorado Avalanche - Saturday, March 5
The Avs are bad this year. Real bad. They've lost 13 of their past 14 and are one of the worst teams in the NHL. However, there is a team in the Western Conference that is worse, and that is the Edmonton Oilers. So go to this game, and cheer on the Avs in one of the few games they'll be favored in.

4. San Antonio Spurs Vs. Denver Nuggets - Wednesday, March 23
Here is a crazy stat. As stated above, the Nuggets and Avs have a collective 11 home games in March. Of those 11 games, only one team either is hosting currently would be in the playoffs, if either season ended today. Let that sink in. Of the 11 games you could see at The Can, only one would be against a team you would also see in the playoffs. So go to the Spurs-Nuggets game and see the best pro sports team to come to town this month. Crazy.

3. CHSAA Hockey State Championship - Thursday, March 3
The preps take the ice at the Pepsi Center on March 3 as the best two teams in the state face off in the championship game of the Colorado High School Athletic Association hockey finals. The two No. 1 seeds, Lewis-Palmer and Regis, meet to earn the title of state champion.

2. and 1. NCAA Tournament - March 17 and 19
Denver will host games in rounds one and two of the NCAA tournament. While the teams playing in Denver won't be announced until Sunday, March 13, you can only assume that the Pepsi Center will be home to buzzer-beaters and memorable shots. You are filling out a bracket anyways, so you have a horse in the race. Make sure you don't miss these games!
