Colorado Avalanche Lose, 2-3, To Ducks, 13 of Last 14 Games

Losses for the Colorado Avalanche don't appear ready to go the way of the dodo just yet. They dropped yet another game with a 2-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. The Ducks snapped a five-game losing streak.

Maybe the Avalanche peaked too early in this game. Kevin Porter scored a goal at 12:07 in the first period to give the Avs a 1-0 lead. They held it for the rest of the period. However, Ryan Getzlaf scored the equalizer at 1:43 in the second period. Todd Marchant scored his first goal of the season at 17:51 to give the Ducks a 2-1 advantage.

Colorado's David Jones tallied his 23rd goal when he netted one 1:43 into the third period. Yet, the Ducks took the lead when Brandon McMillan scored a power play goal at 11:23. Brandon Yip was in the box for four minutes with a double minor for high sticking.

The Avalanche (26-30-7, 59 points) have only won two games since Jan. 20 (17 games), the day their two-game winning streak ended. Somewhat amusing, both wins have come against the St. Louis Blues, the team they recently made a trade with for Erik Johnson. The Avalanche visit the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, March 1.
