The comeback was short-lived. After only two games with the Colorado Avalanche, forward Peter Forsberg has announced that he will retire from the sport of hockey, according to the team.
#Avs forward Peter Forsberg will hold a press conference today at 2:30pm MT to announce his retirement from the game of hockey.
Though no reasons have yet been given, we can assume that Forsberg simply didn't feel he could compete in today's NHL with his chronic health problems.Even with the extended layoff from the NHL, Forsberg did not appear out of place in the two games he played with Colorado. Though he didn't register any points in the boxscore, he was a productive player on both sides of the ice.
A month after Denver first heard the news of a possible comeback, the dream of Forsberg playing one more game on Pepsi Center ice is no more.
