Peter Forsberg To Play For Avalanche Against Blue Jackets On Friday

The Colorado Avalanche are in a deep hole at the moment, but hopefully the return of Peter Forsberg to the lineup will boost the Avalanche. Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports that Forsberg will play with the Avalanche tonight in their game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The game starts at 5:00 p.m. MT in Columbus.

This will be Forsberg's first game since April 29, 2008, when the Avalanche lost 4-3 to the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference semi-finals. In nine regular season games that season, Forsberg scored one goal and assisted on 13 others.

The Avalanche are on a five-game losing streak and have lost seven of their last eight games. Will his return help the defense play better? Will goaltending issues be solved. Peter the Great certainly can't solve these issues alone, but stepping onto the ice is a step in the right direction to get this team right again.
