Avalanche Vs. Flames Score Update: Colorado, Calgary Are Scoreless After One Period

The Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames are both trying to get back to .500 on Thursday night, but the two teams are scoreless after one period in Alberta, Canada. Colorado had shown some signs of life by winning three games in a row, but the Avalanche lost 6-0 to Vancouver on Dec. 6 to really stunt that momentum.

Calgary had a bit of an advantage in the first period, getting ten shots on goal compared to just four shots on goal by Colorado. The Flames weren't able to capitalize on two power play opportunities, though, as Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere saved all ten shots made on him. Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff was equally successful in saving all four shots attempted on him in the first period, as well.
