A stellar week by Colorado Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere has been capped off by recognition from the NHL, as Giguere was named on Monday as the NHL's third star for the week of Dec. 19 - Dec. 25. Giguere was integral to the Avalanche during a week that saw them sweep games against the Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues and Tampa Bay Lightning.
GIguere received the win in all three games, and finished the week allowing only 5 goals and having saved 95% of the shots he saw. On the season, Jiggy is third in the NHL in GAA at 1.79 and fifth in SV% at .934. The Avs will need Giguere to continue his steady goaltending while the team tries to spark its offense as it continues its fight for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference.
