Patrick Berglund's fifth goal of the season gave the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 lead over the Colorado Avalanche in Friday night's match up of recent Western conference trade partners. Berglund's goal, which was assisted by Chris Stewart and Ian Cole, came with just over five and a half minutes gone in the second period.
The Blues had a more active period, outshooting the Avalanche 16-11 in the second, despite starting the period on the power play, and getting two other man advantages in the second. The Avs' inability to convert on power plays is out of character for the team, as their 23% conversion rate on the season is good for third in the NHL. The Blues, meanwhile, upped their league worst power play percentage with their goal in the first period on Friday night.
