Avalanche Vs. Stars Recap: Colorado Falls 3-1 At Home

Michael Ryder scored twice in the third period to help lift the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center on Monday. Goalie Andrew Raycroft was the other star for Dallas, locking down the Colorado offense despite facing 36 shots.

Ryder's first goal of the period extended the Dallas lead to 2-0 with five minutes left in the second period. It came off assists from Loui Eriksson and Philip Larsen. Kevin Porter would finally get the Avalanche on the board less than two minutes later, scoring his first goal of the season off feeds from David Jones and Ryan Wilson. Ryder iced the game with a late goal, his ninth of the year, off assists from Eriksson and Adam Pardy.

Colorado ended the game out-shooting Dallas by just one, 36-35. The Avalanche also led in hits (18-14), takeways (9-8) and faceoffs won (32-29).

Colorado ended the night with 23 penalty minutes, with most coming on a first period fight involving Cody McLeod.
