The Colorado Avalanche are back in the win column thanks to a 3-0 victory over the Dallas Stars. The Avalanche, losers of seven of their past eight, controlled the game all night on Friday, outshooting the Stars by 20. The game winning goal came in the first period courtesy of Chuck Kobasew, who netted his third of the season on assists from Ryan Wilson and T.J. Galiardi.
After a scoreless second period, the Avs extended their lead for good in the third. The first goal in the final frame came from Paul Stastny on a power play, his sixth of the year. The icing on the cake came with five seconds to go and with the Dallas net empty, as Matt Duchene tallied his eighth goal of the season.
The shoutout for Avs goalie Jean-Sebastian Giguere was his first of the season, his first as a member of the Avalanche and the 35th of his career. Colorado (9-10-1) will look to keep the winning rolling on Sunday when they host the San Jose Sharks.
