Avalanche Vs. Kings Final Score: Avs Get 1st Home Win, 3-2

Matt Duchene scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and the Colorado Avalanche were able to hold off the Los Angeles Kings the rest of the way and earn their first win on home ice. There was some drama late in the period after Daniel Winnik was sent to the box for tripping with less than a minute to play and the Kings pulled their goalie, but Avalanche were able to escape.

Unofficially, Colorado managed just 16 shots on goal to LA's 32, but the Avs outhit the Kings 20-17 and won 27 of 49 faceoffs.

The Avalanche have a couple days off before hosting the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday. The Kings will return home for a game against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
