Avalanche Schedule 2011: Colorado Visits Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins

The Colorado Avalanche seek their first victory of the 2011-12 season with a road game against the Boston Bruins.

The Colorado Avalanche go for victory No. 1 this season for a second time when they visit the Boston Bruins on Monday afternoon. Mind you, that's the Stanley Cup-defending Boston Bruins. The Avalanche will want to quickly overcome the opening night 3-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings with their first road victory over the season.

Semyon Varlamov is expected to start for the Avalanche on Monday. He looked good in his debut despite allowing two goals. He made 36 saves on 38 shots. Also watch out for rookie Gabriel Landeskog, who led the team with five shots on net. Of course, the Avalanche will face Tim Thomas, last year's Vezina Trophy Award winner. UPDATE: Rask is in net.

Thomas is 1-1 so far this season, allowing two goals in the opening night loss to the Flyers and just one to the Lightning. In total, he has stopped 52 of 55 shots. Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley have paced the offense in the first two games. Marchand and Seguin each have three points, the latter's all on assists. Peverley has the team-lead in goals with two.

The puck drops at TD Garden at 11 a.m. MT.
