Colorado Avlanche Final Score: Brandon Yip Scores Two Goals In 4-3 Victory Over Blues

The Colorado Avalanche picked up two points and moved back into a playoff spot in the Western Conference following their 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Monday night. After a scoreless first period, the Avalanche and the Blues each scored two goals each scored two goals. Colorado's Brandon Yip scored both for the Avalanche, the second a power play goal. Jay McClement and Eric Brewer scored in between Yip's goals.

At 10:43 in the third period, defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk scored on the power play, his seventh of the season. Less than a minute later, Ryan Stoa scored his first goal of the season to give the Avalanche a 4-2 lead. David Backes scored for the Blues at 18:33 to bring the final score to 4-3.

Colorado's Peter Budaj stopped 21 of 24 shots (.875 save percentage), while St. Louis' Jaroslav Halak allowed four goals on 32 shots (.875 save percentage).

The Avalanche (25-18-6, 56 points) face the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday before the NHL All-Star Break.
