The Colorado Avalanche had a six-game winning streak stopped tonight in a 5-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. This was the first shutout loss by the Avalanche this season. During Brown led the Kings' offensive charge with two goals and two assists. Goalie Jonathan Quick saved all 23 shots he faced to gain the shutout.
The scoring started at 12:26 in the first period when defenseman Rob Scuderi netted his first goal of the season. Brad Richardson made it a 2-0 lead at 6:31 in the second period. Dustin Brown, who had assisted on the first two goals, blew open the game in the third period. He struck at 7:27 and 15:03 in the period to build the lead to 4-0. Justin Williams added a power play goal almost three minutes later.
Avalanche goalie Craig Anderson was only able to stop 27 of 32 shots in the loss.
The Avalanche (19-11-4, 42 points) host the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, Dec. 23 before taking a Christmas break until a Dec. 27 game against the Detroit Red Wings.
