Jonas Holos Recalled From Lake Erie, Kevin Montgomery And David Van Der Gulik Reassigned

Kevin Montgomery’s first taste of the NHL was short-lived, as the 22-year-old defenseman is being sent back to AHL Lake Erie a day after being called up as an emergency replacement, according to the Denver Post.

Along with Montgomery, David Van Der Gulik will also be making the trip back to Lake Erie. Van Der Gulik has been recovering from a torn MCL for the past month. During his recovery, his time had been taken over by Greg Mauldin, who has nine points in 16 games while being tenacious on the penalty kill.

In place of Montgomery, rookie Jonas Holos has finally received another callup to the Avalanche roster. The Norwegian rookie had been sent down early in mid-November to receive more playing time, and is now getting a second chance due to Kyle Quincey’s dislocated shoulder, suffered against Washington on Dec. 11.
