Blackhawks Vs. Avalanche: Chicago, Colorado Combine For Six Goals In First Period

The Colorado Avalanche, the No. 2 offense in the league, and the Chicago Blackhawks have combined for six goals at the end of the first period. The score is tied at three. The teams alternated goals throughout the period.

Colorado’s Brandon Yip started the scoring 48 seconds into the game, with assists going to Kevin Porter and Paul Stastny. Chicago’s Troy Brouwer answered back with a power play goal (Kevin Shattenkirk had two minutes for cross checking).

Paul Stastny added his team-leading 13th goal about a minute later, with Brandon Yip picking up the assists. But around the 15:30 mark, the Blackhawks and Avalanche each put one in the net, Jack Skille for Chicago and Cody McLeod for Colorado.

Troy Brouwer added his second goal of the period at 18:17 in the period. The goal was credited to Bryan Bickell

Colorado’s Craig Anderson faced 14 shots, stopping 11 of them. Chicago’s Marty Turco saw only eight shots, but stopped only five.
