Top defensive prospect Kevin Shattenkirk will dress for tonight’s game and will likely make his NHL debut, according to the Denver Post’s Adrian Dater.
Shattenkirk, a first round draft pick in 2007, was called up from Lake Erie last night to give the Avalanche more defensive depth after concussions to defensemen Adam Foote and Kyle Cumiskey had left them shorthanded.
Colorado now has two rookie defensemen playing large roles for the foreseeable future with Jonas Holos and Kevin Shattenkirk both on the major league roster.
