The Colorado Avalanche jumped out to a 1-0 lead about a minute into the first period on Paul Stastny’s ninth goal of the season. Unfortunately, the Avalanche were unable to hold onto the lead. The Minnesota Wild’s Antti Miettinen scored a goal at 14:19 in the period on a tip-in. With less than 30 second left in the period to play, the Avalanche’s Kevin Porter received a two-minute penalty for high-sticking. Five seconds later Matt Cullen scored a power play goal to put the Wild up, 2-1, at intermission.
A return home has not helped the Avalanche so far tonight.
