Vancouver's Bieksa Scores First Goal Of Season, Adam Foote Leaves WIth Injury

Some sloppy play by Colorado and a Cody McLeod penalty are the difference in this game after the first period as Vancouver defenseman Kevin Bieksa scored his first goal of the season. Halfway through the period, a delayed penalty allowed Vancouver to pull Roberto Luongo from the net for the extra skater, and created enough traffic in front of Craig Anderson to deflect the puck into the goal.

Even with the power play opportunities, both teams only managed seven shots apiece on net. Neither team has been able to muster a consistent attack or been aggressive in the offensive zone.

Injuries may have struck the Avalanche defensive corps as captain Adam Foote limped off the ice in the final minute of the period with an apparent ankle injury. No word yet on the severity of Foote’s injury, but it’s possible that Jonas Holos will have a very short stay in Lake Erie. Updates as they are available.
