Avalanche Vs. Stars: Kevin Porter Scores Shootout Goal To Give Colorado 4-3 Victory Over Dallas

The Colorado Avalanche failed to secure the victory in regulation and couldn’t score a goal in overtime, so to the shootout the Avalanche and the Stars went. After the first three shooters failed to score a goal, Colorado’s Chris Stewart and Dallas’ Mike Ribeiro each scored a goal. Kari Lehtonen made an amazing save on Matt Duchene’s shot at the net, so they played on. After David Jones missed, the Avalanche next sent Kevin Porter up, who netted the game-winner. The Avalanche won 4-3 (SO).

Milan Hejduk had two power play goals in this game, and rookie defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk had assists on both of them. David Jones had his ninth goal of the season, which Chris Stewart and John-Michael Liles helped on with assists..

However, the Avalanche looked sluggish for long stretches of this game and are lucky to have prevailed with a shootout victory. Colorado also did not have a power play at any time during the last two periods of regulation or overtime.

Avalanche goalie Peter Budaj stopped 26 of 29 shots, while Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 23 of 26 shots.
