The St. Louis Blues drew within one of the Colorado Avalanche when Carlo Colaiacovo scored a goal at 14:54 in the second period of the game, but the Avalanche offense turned things on shortly after that goal. Brandon Yip scored his fifth goal of the season after a long review. Matt Duchene lifted the puck into the air and hit off of Yip to enter the net. However, the referee originally waived the goal because the puck hit Yip’s hand. Upon review, it hit the top of his glove and counted as the fourth Avalanche goal.
Seventeen seconds later, David Jones kept the Blues off kilter with another goal to give the Avalanche a 5-2 lead.
