Colorado Avalanche Play Second Home Game, Lose 4-2 To San Jose Sharks

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Joe Pavelski scored two power-play goals to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center.

Scott Nichol also scored while Antero Niittymaki turned aside 29 shots for the Sharks, who halted a three-game winless skid and won for the second time this season (2-2-1). San Jose will continue its three-game road trip in Edmonton on Saturday.

Kyle Cumiskey and Milan Hejduk scored for the Avalanche, who played only their second home game of the season. Colorado won its season-opener at home against Chicago before it embarked on a five-game road trip. The Avs have dropped two of their last three games overall.

Colorado goaltender Craig Anderson allowed three goals on 33 shots.
