According to a mock draft from ESPN's Todd McShay (Insider) on Wednesday, the Denver Broncos are lined up to select defensive tackle Kawann Short from the Purdue Boilermakers in the upcoming NFL Draft, which will take place in late April of 2013.
Short, a 6'3, 315-pound senior from East Chicago, Ind., racked up 6.0 sacks this season for the Boilermakers, who will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on Jan. 1 after finishing the regular season at 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten conference.
In his description, McShay lists the defensive tackle position as a need for the Broncos. He also notes that, although his production has dipped in and out throughout his tenure at Purdue, Short is nimble on his feet, making him a menace for offenses in the backfield. Speaking to that point, during the 2012 season, Short tallied 14½ tackles for a loss to go along with his sack total.
