Chargers vs. Broncos, Week 11: Denver fans excited over Peyton Manning milestone

The Denver Broncos improved to 7-3 on Sunday, and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning excited the fan base even further by passing Dan Marino on the career touchdown passing list.

Week 11 proved to be an excellent week for Denver Broncos fans. Denver defeated the San Diego Chargers, 30-23, and improved to 7-3 on the season. In the process, the Broncos opened up a three-game lead over the Chargers -- and Denver owns the tiebreaker, too, effectively giving Denver a four game lead with just six games to play.

Peyton Manning was a big part of Denver's win, as the future Hall of Famer completed 25 of 42 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

As the folks over at Mile High Report, SB Nation's Denver Broncos blog, point out, Manning's first touchdown of the day carried historical significance.

The Broncos marched down field and Manning threw a nice touch pass to Demaryius Thomas which was originally called incomplete. The Broncos challenged the play and the ruling was reveresed.

The touchdown pass was Peyton Manning's 421st of his career enough to pass Dan Marino for second all time.

CAREER TOUCHDOWN PASSES

BRETT FAVRE - 508

PEYTON MANNING - 423

DAN MARINO - 420

FRANK TARKENTON - 342

TOM BRADY - 318

DREW BREES - 306

JOHN ELWAY - 300

As if Manning needed to be placed in even more rarefied air.

Manning is now just 85 touchdown passes away from tying Favre's all-time record, and 86 touchdowns away from breaking it.

Needless to say, Broncos fans hope that those milestones come sooner rather than later -- and come with No. 18 wearing a Denver Broncos jersey.
