The 6-3 Denver Broncos play for a commanding three-game lead in the AFC West Sunday when they face the 4-5 San Diego Chargers at Mile High Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:25 MT, with television coverage on CBS.
The Broncos have built a two-game lead in the AFC West with a four-game winning streak that started when they came back from a 24-point deficit to defeat the Chargers, 35-24, in Week 6. First-year quarterback Peyton Manning has not disappointed, throwing for 2705 yards (300.6 per game) and 21 touchdowns. The Denver offense is second in the league in scoring and third in total yards despite a ground game that generates just 102 yards per game.
San Diego has gone the other way since that fateful loss to Denver, losing two of three, including a 7-6 loss to Cleveland and a 34-23 defeat at Tampa Bay. The San Diego offense is in the middle of the league in every significant category: 17th in scoring, 22nd in total offense, 16th in passing yards, 18th in rushing yards. Philip Rivers, who threw an interception that directly led to the Denver comeback in Week 6, has maintained a 67% completion percentage and averaged 244 yards per game through the air.
