Elvis Dumervil injury update: Broncos DE's MRI negative, is day-to-day

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil did not suffer a tear in his left shoulder, but he will be questionable with a muscle strain.

The Denver Broncos received good news on Monday with defensive end Elvis Dumervil's MRI showing no tear in his left shoulder, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post. He left Sunday's 36-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers in the first quarter and eventually came back out to the field without his pads on.

Dumervil will be questionable for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, a pivotal contest that could give the Broncos a three-game lead in the AFC West should they win. He has seven sacks on the season -- one in each of the last two games -- putting him behind only Von Miller's team-leading 10 sacks. He caused a forced fumble on that sack of Cam Newton.

Miller picked up his 10th sack of the season on Sunday when he brought down Newton on the Panthers' first drive of the game. Dumervil and Miller's combined sack total of 17 has helped Denver to a league-leading 31 sacks through Week 10. Green Bay and Seattle are tied for second with 28.
