Elvis Dumervil injury: Broncos DE will have MRI on left shoulder Monday

Denver Broncos defensive end Elvis Dumervil left Sunday's victory over the Carolina Panthers with a strained left shoulder. He will have an MRI on Monday.

The Denver Broncos will find out on Monday the extent of the injury to defensive end Elvis Dumervil's left shoulder, as he will undergo an MRI, according to the Denver Post. The injury, currently diagnosed as a strained left shoulder, occurred during the first half of the team's 36-14 victory against the Carolina Panthers.

Dumervil did return from the locker room after examination, but he did so without pads on. The team had originally called his return questionable before deciding to sit him for the remainder of the game.

He recorded his seventh sack of the season before leaving the game. That was one of seven sacks by the Denver defense against Carolina. Kevin Vickerson had two sacks and Robert Ayers, one of the players who could gain playing time if Dumervil's injury is serious, had one (and two tackles for a loss). Linebacker Von Miller enjoyed a dominant defensive game with six tackles, four tackles for a loss, one sack and one quarterback hit.

Rookie Malik Jackson might also see increased playing time if Dumervil misses any games.
