Broncos creep into halftime with 7-6 lead over Chiefs

It wasn't a pretty first half, but the Broncos lead the Chiefs at halftime, 7-6.

For nearly 30 minutes, the Denver Broncos looked as though they were going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to enter halftime with a lead. However, with 18 seconds left in the half, Peyton Manning found tight end Jacob Tamme for a seven-yard touchdown pass and the eventual 7-6 lead.

On that scoring drive, it took Manning 11 plays and 94 yards to create the touchdown. A lead is a lead is a lead, no matter how it's arrived at.

Manning has completed 13-of-17 passes for 137 yards with an interception. On the ground, the Broncos haven't done too much. Knowshon Moreno has rushed for just 26 yards on six carries while catching three passes for 10 yards.

Kansas City has won the kicking battle, as Ryan Succop has connected on both his tries. Matt Prater missed his only one, a 47-yard attempt. And the quarterbacking hasn't been bad: Brady Quinn completed 9-of-11 passes for 88 yards.
