The Broncos and Cougars take the field as bowl season hits full swing.

The Boise State Broncos highlight the action from the second weekend of the college football bowl season by taking on the Washington Huskies in the Las Vegas Bowl on Sat., Dec. 22.

Boise State (10-2) posted its seventh-straight season with ten or more wins and was a co-champion of the Mountain West Conference. The Broncos boast a top-ten defense in total yards, points allowed, and opponent's pass efficiency. Senior running back D.J. Harper has rushed for 1,065 yards on the season.

Washington (7-5) finished fourth in the Pac 12's North division. While not as strong as Boise's, the Huskies' defense does rank 30th in yards allowed despite being marginal against the run, allowing 164 rushing yards per game. The teams will play twice in a row, as the two schools were already scheduled to open the 2013 season in the newly-renovated Husky Stadium.

The bowl weekend begins on Thurs., Dec. 20, when the BYU Cougars (7-5) face the San Diego State Aztecs (9-3) in the Poinsettia Bowl. The Aztecs host BYU on its home field in a game between former conference foes. BYU holds an all-time series advantage of 27-7-1, and the last meeting in 2010 was surrounded in controversy over an instant replay decision.
