One of the big stories heading into the final Sunday of the college football season is whether Boise State or Northern Illinois could bust up the BCS. Both schools would have to jump into the top 16 in Sunday evening's BCS rankings in order to earn an at-large berth. While the MAC champions are still alive, it appears that the Broncos chances are slim to none.
So with the BCS out of the equation, where might Boise State be headed this bowl season? Jason Kirk has released his latest bowl projections, and he is sending the Broncos back to the state of Nevada. Boise knocked off Nevada to wrap up their regular season, and their 10-2 record could land them in the Las Vegas Bowl, according to Kirk. That bowl has the first choice of Mountain West schools, and it's likely that Chris Petersen's club is at the top of the list.
Facing Boise will be a BCS conference opponent, as Kirk projects the Washington Huskies to appear in the Las Vegas Bowl against the Broncos. There would certainly be plenty of storylines in that early bowl season game, with the Broncos facing a potential future conference foe.
