The top five teams in the latest polls will see a change on Sunday when the new rankings come out following losses by No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Georgia. The Seminoles lost by one point, 17-16, to N.C State. The Tigers lost to No. 10 Florida, 14-6, after scoring all their points in the first half and then being shutout for the final 30 minutes. The Bulldogs were dominated by No. 6 South Carolina, 35-7. No. 1 Alabama was off this weekend while No. 2 Oregon comfortably won, 52-21, over Washington.
With Florida State, LSU and Georgia losing, South Carolina is a good bet to be the new No. 3. No. 7 Kansas State could be poised for a move to No. 4 following its 56-16 romp against Kansas. But we also have No. 8 West Virginia winning a 48-45 shootout against No. 11 Texas, and No. 9 Notre Dame dominated Miami, 41-3. Florida will also be moving up with the victory over LSU.
The No. 15 TCU Horned Frogs lost at home to the Iowa St. Cyclones, 37-23, which will certainly drop them at least a few spots.
Boise State dropped out of the poll last week, but a 40-14 victory over Southern Miss combined with losses by No. 21 Nebraska, No. 23 Washington, No. 24 Northwestern and No. 25 UCLA could move them back into one of the final slots.
