The Boise St. Broncos defeated the Southern Miss. Golden Eagles, 40-14, on Saturday at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The Broncos forced five turnovers - three fumbles and two interceptions - as their offense took advantage of the extra possessions to put points on the board.
Broncos quarterback Joe Southwick finished with 201 yards on 17 of 26 passing with three touchdowns and one interception.
Matt Miller, D.J. Harper (twice), Chris Potter and Kirby Moore all scored for the Broncos as they put up points in each quarter.
Southern Miss outgained the Broncos, 422 to 320, and had the ball for a minute and a half more in the game, but the turnovers were their undoing. Golden Eagles running back Desmond Johnson rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in the loss.
Box Score Hero: No one really had a monster game but the closest will have to be Boise State quarterback Joe Southwick, who went for 201 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 17 of 26 passing.
Rankings Ramifications: Boise State should be knocking on the door of being ranked with a 4-1 overall record and a 2-0 record in the Mountain West Conference.
But Did They Cover?: Boise State made the spread a non-factor as it clearly covered its 9.5 point opening.

Next Week's Schedule: Boise State hosts Fresno State on Oct. 13 and Southern Miss travels to take on Central Florida on Oct. 13.
