The No. 22 Boise State Broncos hold a 25-0 lead over the UNLV Rebels after a half of play at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos held UNLV to just 111 yards of total offense in the half, and also scored a defensive touchdown.
After Boise State took an 18-point lead on Jay Ajayi's 4-yard touchdown run, Broncos cornerback Jerrell Gavins scooped up UNLV wide receiver Marcus Sullivan's fumble and returned it 16 yards for a score. It was the second UNLV turnover on which Gavins was able to capitalize, after intercepting Rebels quarterback Nick Sherry in the end zone earlier in the quarter.
The Broncos had a chance to get the ball back in good field position with ample time left in the half, but UNLV punter Chase Lansford picked up a first down on a fake punt to extend the drive. However, the Rebels were unable to do anything beyond that, turning the ball over on downs four plays later. Still, the trick play prevented the Broncos from having enough time remaining to put more points on the board.
