The Boise State Broncos have jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the UNLV Rebels after the first quarter of play at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho. D.J. Harper's 10-yard touchdown run and ensuing 2-point conversion run account for all of the scoring thus far.
Harper has been instrumental on Boise State's current drive as well, hauling in a screen pass for 12 yards and breaking off a 37-yard run to get the Broncos into UNLV territory shortly before the end of the quarter. Harper carried the ball five times for 55 yards and a score in the quarter.
Boise State quarterback Joe Southwick has completed 6 of 7 passes for 52 yards. The Broncos have outgained the Rebels, 140 total yards to 15. However, Grant Hedrick's fumble on Boise State's opening drive prevented the Broncos from possibly taking a larger lead.
The Broncos will face a 2nd-and-7 from the UNLV 12-yard line when the second quarter begins.
