College Football Rankings, Week 5: Montana Grizzlies Drop To No. 21 In FCS

The Montana Grizzlies dropped to No. 21 in the FCS Top 25 Poll after losing their Big Sky Conference opener to Northern Arizona. They fell to 2-2 on the season as NAU made a jump into the top 25, coming in right behind Montana at No. 22.

The Lumberjacks defeated Montana 41-31 on Saturday, and the victory ended a 14-game streak of defeats at the hands of the Grizzlies.

Meanwhile, Montana State remains No. 2 in the FCS poll after defeating Northern Colorado 41-16 on Saturday. The Bobcats are now 4-0 and sit behind the top-ranked North Dakota State Bison, who have put the anchor down at the No. 1 spot this season. The Bison earned 154 of the 169 first-place votes.

Rounding out the top five are No. 3 Youngstown State, No. 4 Old Dominion and No. 5 James Madison.

The Big Sky placed five teams in the top 25. Eastern Washington is ranked No. 7, and Cal Poly found itself No. 23 in the updated rankings:
