College Football Rankings, Week 4: Boise State Narrowly Misses USA Today Coaches Poll Ranking

Boise State narrowly missed jumping into the USA Today Coaches Poll, garnering 70 points in the vote after their 39-12 win over Miami (Ohio). The Broncos fell just two spots behind No. 25 Oklahoma State. The Broncos did slide up to No. 24 in the AP Top 25 Poll. Utah received six points in the vote following their 16-14 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday.

Alabama maintains their No. 1 spot in the rankings following their 52-0 rout of Arkansas, with LSU holding onto the No. 2 spot for the second straight week after their 63-14 dominance over the Idaho Vandals. USC was the big loser this week, falling to No. 12 in the coaches poll following their upset loss against Stanford on Saturday night. Coaches took notice, voting Stanford up to No. 11 from No. 16 after the big win.

Oregon, Florida State and Oklahoma fill out the top five this week. Virginia Tech (35-17 loss to Pittsburgh) and Arkansas (52-0 loss to Alabama) were the two teams to have dropped out of the rankings this week.
