The No. 2 USC Trojans won't remain that high when the latest AP Top 25 Poll comes out on Sunday. The Trojans lost to the Stanford Cardinal on the road on Saturday, 21-14, after holding a 14-7 halftime lead. Quarterback Matt Barkley and the rest of the USC offense couldn't crack the end zone again while the defense allowed two touchdowns passes by Josh Nunes.
Stanford, now 3-0 and currently the No. 21 team, should rise into the teens while USC could fall into the teens. The AP voters will let their vote be known at 10 a.m. MT. The No. 3 LSU Tigers picked up a 63-14 victory over the Idaho Vandals and should take over the second spot this week.
Other teams that will fall include the No. 10 Michigan St. Spartans, who lost to the No. 20 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 20-3, and the No. 13 Virginia Tech Hokies, who fell to the Pittsburgh Panthers, 35-17. The No. 23 Tennessee Volunteers lost to the No. 18 Florida Gators, 37-20, opening up a spot in the back end of the top 25. The Utah Utes defeated the No. 25 BYU Cougars, 24-21, in a wild finish that Utes fans kept trying to spoil by running onto the field as BYU kept trying to kick field goals to tie the game
The Boise St. Broncos defeated the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks, 39-12, and, being the first team out of the poll, could be back in it this week.
