After some late speculation that the Boise St. Broncos or the TCU Horned Frogs would be going to a BCS bowl games, that all turned out to be misinformation. After the unveiling of the final BCS standings, the Boise St. Broncos finished at No. 7 overall but are not going to a BCS bowl game. The Horned Frogs needed to move to No. 16 to get the at-large BCS bid, but they finished at No. 18. The Horned Frogs were in a position for the at-large bid since they had won the Mountain West Conference Championship.
The Broncos could have gone to the Sugar Bowl, but that game decided to take No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 13 Michigan, as Chadd Cripe of the Idaho Statesman points out. Apparently a Sugar Bowl representative said the bowl liked the quality of team the Hokies had shown over the last few years.
The Broncos appear ready to head for the Las Vegas Bowl.
