The Boise State Broncos have opened up the 2011 Las Vegas Bowl with 14-0 lead over the Arizona State Sun Devils after the first quarter. After Doug Martin's kickoff return for a touchdown, the Broncos were only able to find the end zone one more time. Quarterback Kellen Moore led his team from its own 46-yard line and hit Arizona's 14-yard line toward the end of the drive. Moore then threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Shoemaker, who made that his 16th touchdown of the season. Shoemaker was a few steps ahead of his defenders, who were befuddled as a result of dealing with a tight end.
Moore did throw an interception a couple of drives later, but on Arizona State's subsequent drive quarterback Brock Osweiler lost the ball and wound up with a loss of 20 yards. The Broncos will look to extend their lead by a third touchdown in the second quarter.
