FCS All-America Team 2011: Montana Grizzlies Place Three On AP Teams

The 2011 AP FCS All-America Teams were announced on Thursday afternoon, and the Montana Grizzlies had two first-team All-Americans. Linebacker Caleb McSurday and defensive back Trumaine Johnson took first-team honors while lineman Jon Apperud was voted to the third team.

McSurdy had 127 tackles, 9 tackles for a loss and 4 sacks as the leader of the defense. Johnson picked off two passes, broke up 12 passes and defended 14 balls. The Grizzlies play the No. 1 Sam Houston State Bearkats on Friday in the semifinals of the 2011 FCS Playoffs. Sophomore running back Tim Flanders leads three Bearkats named to the AP All-America teams.

The Montana State Bobcats fell to Sam Houston State last Saturday, even with Elvis Akpla's amazing catch. Akpla, who caught 57 passes for 1,045 yards and 11 touchdowns, was named to the third team.
