The Week 14 BCS standings saw the Houston Cougars moved ahead of the Boise St. Broncos, checking in at No. 6. The Broncos are just one spot behind at No. 7. Barring a whole ton of crazy happening, the Cougars will gain a BCS bowl bid and the Broncos will settle for a bowl game like the Poinsettia or Las Vegas Bowl.
However, Houston does need to beat the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (No. 24 in the BCS standings) in the Conference USA Championship Game to gain that BCS bid. If the Eagles pull off the upset, the TCU Horned Frogs could be in a position to take a BCS bid. TCU has the Mountain West title in hand, one part of the criteria for the BCS. The other is for the Horned Frogs to move into the top 16 of the BCS. They are No. 18 this week and play the UNLV Rebels on Saturday.
A week from now, we're more than likely to see the Cougars in a BCS game rather than the other non-AQ two teams.
