Air Force Football 2012: Backup QB Kale Pearson Impressive in Camp

Air Force Academy backup quarterback Kale Pearson has had a strong camp and could be the favorite to take over as starter next season, according to Frank Schwab of the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Pearson, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., is currently second on the Falcons' depth chart at QB, behind senior Connor Dietz. Pearson is ahead of Tucker Tipton, who started camp as a cornerback but switched back to QB when Pearson missed a few practices earlier in camp due to a minor injury. Freshmen Dano Graves and Jaleel Awini round out the Falcons' quarterbacks, and Schwab mentioned that they've also been playing well in camp.

The Falcons kickoff the 2012 season at home vs. FBS Idaho State on Sep. 1. Things get a lot tougher after that, as they head to Ann Arbor to take on No. 8 Michigan on Sep. 8.
